"They ate my cat": in Sète, a landlord files a complaint after a dog attack on his land

At the end of December, in the Villeroy district of Sète, a cat was violently attacked by two dogs from the neighboring family. Her owners have decided to file a complaint.

This Friday December 30, in the Villeroy district of Sète, a cat was the victim of a brutal attack by two dogs: a Malinois shepherd and a Jack Russel. Roxy, 2 and a half years old, the cat in question, has been hospitalized in the meantime. The latter suffers from numerous bites on the tail, legs, shoulder blades and sides and will have to be operated on.

“I Heard the Children Scream”

Ludovic, his master, says: “I heard the children screaming. When I intervened, the dogs were eating her, they were biting her on the hind legs! My wife took a stick for protection. She put her foot at the bottom of the dog’s belly to stop it.“

“I immediately reached the cat to bring it back home, it was inert. I called an emergency veterinary intervention. She didn’t even want to enter because the dogs were still in front of the villa”. One of these two dogs, the Malinois, had already killed a neighborhood cat two years ago, according to Roxy’s owner. After a complaint was filed, the case had, at the time, been dropped. Last year, these two dogs even attacked a Labrador on a leash, with no consequences, according to Ludovic. .

Filed a complaint

A complaint was then filed with the police station the day after the attack on this Siberian feline. The cat’s owner evokes “an act of barbarism”, as he suggests in the many messages he sent to the mistress of the two dogs. “My children are in shock, they are traumatized. The situation could have been dramatic, they could have been in the garden instead of the cat, they were shocked by the terrible scene that happened before their eyes, a ferocity that I would never have believed imaginable. Even my wife has been sleeping badly since that day.” Ludovic doesn’t get upset: “The owner of the dogs is in total denial. She has a very particular behavior, she denies the facts. What will happen next? An attack by a child? An injured tenant or inhabitant of Villeroy? A tenant or inhabitant of Villeroy hurt? The woman is an assault”.

The owner replies

For his part, he recognizes the attack but does not understand how his animals managed to get through his gate as well as that of his neighbor. “We don’t know if it happened inside his house. We both have a gate about two meters long. My dogs have never jumped it.”

This lady is also considering filing a complaint herself for the “hundreds of posts” sent by Ludovic. He also wonders if his Jack Russel “disappeared” after the attack. “I find it very strange that my dog ​​disappeared immediately after attacking a cat. Especially since he never ran away…”

However, the latter announced to her neighbor that she was insured and would bear the costs of the vets, which initially amounted to more than €700. But “Since I sent her the first invoice, she hasn’t responded anymoreLudovic complains. Roxy is due for surgery this Tuesday afternoon, luckily she’s a little better. But we will exceed the €2,000 vet bill and these dogs are still unsupervised.”assures the Sétois.

A letter sent to the Municipality of Sète in accordance with the town planning code

In addition to filing a complaint, a letter was sent to the municipality of Sète, “in order to preserve the safety of the inhabitants of the district”, asking it, in application of “article L211-11 of the rural code “to oblige the owner of any animal “that may present a danger to people and domestic animals” to take the necessary measures to prevent accidents. The owners of Roxy ask the municipality to “quickly implement all the necessary measures so that a new tragedy does not happen again”.
