The “natural resources” axis of the OSUR is organizing a first seminar as part of its animation activities for the year 2023 on the theme “Agricultural resources and society: feeding the planet in a moment of ecological transition”. It will be introduced by the presentation of a guest speaker – Jean-Denis Vigne (Emeritus Director of Research at the CNRS – UMR AASPE of the MNHN) – on the history of agriculture in relation to human societies. J.-D. Vigne is a specialist in the interactions between society and animal biodiversity in prehistory (sedentarization, adaptation of the first breeding systems, production of milk and derivatives).
The conference will be followed by three presentations of laboratories that make up the OSUR.
Samuel Corgne (LETG LAB, Univ. Rennes2) will give a presentation on Identification and characterization of irrigated agriculture by remote sensing: application to an experimental watershed in India
Benoît Geslin (IBME laboratory, univ. Aix-Marseille, in delegation to ECOBIO) will present a report on Pollination and agricultural production: quantity, quality and human health.
Stéphanie Aviron and Véronique Lucas (INRAE BAGAP laboratory) will present a presentation on the ecological and social conditions of the adoption of agroecological practices by farmers.

Conference: Archeology-based solutions for a more sustainable environmental balance? Some examples.
Author: Jean-Denis Vigne, Director Emeritus of Research at the CNRS, Project Manager at the National Museum of Natural History, UMR “Archaeozoology, archaeobotany: society, practices, environment” (CNRS-MNHN), CP 56, 55 rue Buffon, 75005 Paris
Summary: Nature-based solutions are increasingly called upon to contribute to a more sustainable development of humanity. This approach, to be questioned, too often ignores the experiences of the past, in particular those documented by the archeology of the long transition between the Epipaleolithic and the Neolithic. This presentation will seek to illustrate the potential of these pre- and protohistoric contributions through three examples: the sedentarization of hunter-gatherers, the acclimatization of early domesticated animals and the adaptation of husbandry systems, and the beginnings of the consumption of milk and dairy products. -dairies. . Finally, we will question the difficulty scientific communities have in integrating long-term consideration into their forecasts, particularly at the highest levels of decision-making.
