 Alabama Animal Shelter Director Rescues a Struggling Dog From a Flood and Gets a Big, Sloppy Hug

The sweet doggo clearly liked their friend in need.

An Alabama doggo is protected from a flood, and a nearby safe house chief is a legend for working everything out.

On March 18, a huge tempest moved through the town of Dothan, Ala., rapidly overpowering neighborhood brooks and putting various yards and low-lying regions under hip-profound water. When the downpour halted, somebody called the Dothan Police Department to report a canine who was restricted and battling to keep their head above water, police wrote in a Facebook post.

Dothan Animal Shelter Director Bill Banks answered the call and, incapable to reach out to the canine's proprietor, swam into the dinky water not realizing what may be hiding underneath or how well disposed the upset canine would be to outsiders.

"When I got down there, it wasn't nevertheless a little while before I had her free," Banks tells Daily Paws. "The water was abdomen profound, chest somewhere down in certain spots.

"I got completely annihilated by fire subterranean insects," he says. "They were all around the outer layer of the water. They were all around my shirt, my arms. The canine was shrouded in them."

Confronted with a creature out of luck, Banks nobly entered the fenced nook and liberated the striving dog, who expressed gratitude toward him with a wet, messy embrace that was caught in a photograph.

In the post, the Dothan Police Department was gushing in their commendation for the chief.

"Chief Banks' benevolence and care for creatures thinks about significantly himself, the Dothan Animal Shelter, and the city of Dothan," the post peruses.

As far as it matters for him, Banks rushes to bring up that the circumstance was an accident and the little guy's proprietor isn't to be faulted.

"In every one of the years I've been in the vicinity, that stream has never come up that far," he says. "I got tightly to the proprietor at that point, however he was in the following state, dealing with some business and was going back when I conversed with him. I think he returned home about a thirty minutes after I pulled [the dog] out."

Banks says he attached the canine up nearer to the home and that the thankful proprietor has proactively moved the canine house and fenced in area much further up the property, to keep what is going on from truly reoccurring.
